Estos días de Navidad....Xiomara J. Pages...
He cumplido 65 años, he luchado y sigo luchando, por más de 34 con mi hija Sandra, y con incontables situaciones, que a veces no tienen solución, y otras, son pasos y decisiones muy difíciles...No me creo tener las peores situaciones, mayores que las de nadie, pero todos conocemos las nuestras. y Dios las de todos...El, ese Dios es quien me lleva hacia adelante siempre, y el amor que me rodea.. no hay dudas.

Dr. Ben Carson....by Xiomara J. Pages
Dr. Ben Carson

When my kids were children, I read a beautiful article in Reader's
Digest, it was in April, 1990...."Ben Carson: Man of Miracles"...later, a
beautiful book, "Gifted Hands"....published in 1990 also and that I
took out of the Library, where I was a voluntary secretary to the
Library.. ... That book was about a mother, who did so many wonderful
things for her two children, Ben and Curtis ...specially her youngest
one...who became a Pediatric Neurosurgeon...(the other one an engineer)....
That mother and this guy's life inspired me, Still do....Yes, .I am
talking about this book..'GIFTED HANDS', which became later a movie (in
2009) with actor Cuba Gooding, Jr...(coincidentally Cuba is my native
country, ah?. Well, you are right, these people I am talking about,
mother, son, etc. are blacks..and I read always to my kids, not only
about all good people in history, but also about Good Things Black
people has done too...without discrimination to anyone, the same way my
own parents raised me.....all the legacy of GOOD BLACKS to history and
the world, to USA, etc...were included in my kids' education....
.so, I guess that takes me out of the Racism nonsense talk and list
that sometimes people try to put us, every time we mention the bad
behavior of black people, or about president Obama..ok?.....It's a
shame that such a high percentage of Black people remain in the victim's
role, and don't do anything to get ahead, even with so much help now
days...)
Well, I recommend you read this book, but if you are not much of a reader, then buy the movie, rent it, but watch 'GIFTED HANDS'...about the life of a very conservative, Faith centered doctor, Black Pediatric Neurosurgeon and his incredible mother's guidance throughout his life...
I am honored to have read that book, watched the movie later, and bought the movie...So, if you want to see it and not spend any money, Just call me, and you can watch it with me at my home....
Maybe it will be a movie we can watch in those Cinema Afternoon for Friends I do at my home..like others like The Ultimate Gift, Auntie Mammie, Beaches, etc. etc..

Ben Carson, M.D., works medical
miracles. Today, he's one of the most celebrated neurosurgeons in the world. In
Gifted Hands, he tells of his inspiring odyssey from his childhood in
inner-city Detroit to his position as director of pediatric neurosurgery at
Johns Hopkins Hospital at age 33. Ben Carson is a role model for anyone who
attempts the seemingly impossible as he takes you into the operating room where
he has saved countless lives. Filled with fascinating case histories, this is
the dramatic and intimate story of Ben Carson's struggle to beat the odds — and
of the faith and genius that make him one of the greatest life-givers of the
century.
Dr. Carson is an emeritus professor
of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins
School of Medicine. In 1984, he was named director of pediatric neurosurgery at
Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, a position he retired from in 2013. In 2008,
he was named the inaugural recipient of a professorship in his name, the
Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D., and Dr. Evelyn Spiro, R.N., Professor of
Pediatric Neurosurgery. Also in 2008, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of
Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the land. He was the keynote speaker for
the President’s National Prayer Breakfasts in 1997 and 2013. Through his
philanthropic foundation, the Carson Scholars Fund, he strives to maximize the
intellectual potential of every child. An internationally renowned physician,
Dr. Carson has authored over a hundred neurosurgical publications and has been
awarded more than sixty honorary doctorate degrees and dozens of national merit
citations. Dr. Carson has written six best-selling books, and his fifth book, America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What
Made This Nation Great, released in early 2012, made the New York Times Bestseller List. His
sixth book, One Nation: What We Can All
Do to Save America’s Future, was released in 2014, and became a number
one New York Times bestseller.
He is a syndicated columnist and a highly sought-after, world-renowned
inspirational and motivational speaker.

.. My respects and admiration for this BLACK Doctor Dr. Ben Carson.................Xio
